This website is dedicted to all those who admire and especially quilt "Hawaiian"

Mie Morimoto
Mie was one of our first quilters at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. When I met her she had a passion for everything that was Hawaiian. An avid sportswoman she scuba dived, a Hawaiian enthusiast she learned how to make feather lei's as well as educated herself on things Hawaiian. We knew she was special and different from all of our other quilters. Yes, she is a master quilter but I also like to call her a cultural artist. While the other quilters experiment with modern contemporary fabrics like batiks, prints and even calico's she keeps to the guidelines of the "known" traditions of the vintage Hawaiian quilts. Solids on white, and or bright vibrant colors. She is one of many reasons the "traditional" quilts are still being made today. While others are doing more contemporary quilts she "Keeps the tradition". Mie also has her Poakalani Teachers Certificate.
