Yoko Niizawa is one of my favorite people. To many she is known as bicycle Yoko because she always rode her bicyle to class with her quilt some how stuffed into a back pack or on the handle bars. She is also one of our few quilters who not only wanted to learn how to quilt but to also understand its history and the people who quilted. In our classes she always did more listening than talking and watching and observing then asking questions. She always seemed to be in the background than right in the middle of the action. But when help was needed she was always the first to volunteer. And through her quiet observation and humble actions she is not only one of the best Hawaiian quilters I know today but also an extremly talented Hawaiian Quilt Designer. We are proud to have her as part of our class. I few years ago Yoko received her Poakalani Teaching Certificate. She is an excellent teacher. Patience in teaching, humble in personality.....she is a true quilter of Aloha. Yoko's quilts have been photographed in magazines and books worldwide. Please enjoy a few of Yoko's masterpieces.
