In the days of old Hawaii it is believed that one's career is not necessarily chosen by the individual but a destiny of fate. Where the ancestors, and you could say gods have chosen certain individuals to carry on a specific task.  A task so uncommon that only a gifted few are chosen.  We believe that Tomoko is one of those rare individuals who was specifically designated to not only learn the art of Hawaiian quilting but to also teach it internationally.  Tomoko first became a student of Poakalani's over 13 years ago before being certified as an instructor. From the first day she walked in the class it was her goal to learn EVERTHING about Hawaiian quilting and its relationship to the people of Hawaii.  She was inquistive, always asking questions, always trying to learn more, even today ,and her enthusiasm has made her one of the best Hawaiian quilting  instructors in Japan. If anyone wants to learn Hawaiian quilting from a Master quilter and Cultural artist they need to look no further than Tomoko.  For more information to learn quilting from Tomoko just follow her link.
